30 Days of Beauty : 23 ( The Baking Edition )

When my littlest guy was poorly recently, we fell ( far too easily ) into having the TV on during the day, Cbbeebies was a huge hit especially I Can Cook.

So when O was better ( and the TV switched back off ) we set about having our own I Can Cook session.
I measured everything out in bowls and then gently guided O with his baking.
Firstly he made Banana Bread.

Those little hands were so capable, so clever, so skillful.

The start of a Mama-Made gift for a friend, who adores Battenburg Cake.

O's Banana Bread, ready to share with his Woodland Group friends.

A tray of feta cheese filled savouries, O loved making and eating these.
His pride at sharing his goodies with family and friends is wonderful to see and so worth all the clearing and washing up after.

Our Earth Hour Evening

Was spent together, watching the sun go to bed and the moon come out to play,

Turning off all the power to our house and going outside to honour Mother Nature,

Lighting a fire in Her honour and raising a glass to celebrate Her.

Knowing our small lights in the darkness, together with so many others, was making a difference.

Refreshing the Soul

With dirt on our hands,

Planting new life.

Learning about touch, taste and smell.

Gushing saved spring rains.

Spotting yellow butterflies.

Living and Learning from Mother Nature, wrapping us in her Spring cloaks of new life, freshness and Hope.

30 Days of Beauty : 22

Light and Love in the Darkness.

I have found love for my girl in many places here on the net over the past few days, kind Mamas who have opened their hearts and dedicated a place to her.
We are humbled by your love and oh so grateful for it.
Thank You.

Always

For our daughter, Emma Joan
20 - 21 March 2005

As

As around the sun the earth knows she is revolving
And the rosebuds know to bloom in early May
Just as hate knows love's the cure
You can rest your mind assure
That I'll be loving you always
As now can't reveal the mystery of tomorrow
But in passing will grow older every day
Just as all is born is new
Do know what I say is true
That I'll be loving you always
Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky---ALWAYS
Until the ocean covers every mountain high---ALWAYS
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea---ALWAYS
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream
Did you know that true love asks for nothing
Her acceptance is the way we pay
Did you know that life has given love a guarantee
To last through forever and another day
Just as time knew to move on since the beginning
And the seasons know exactly when to change
Just as kindness knows no shame
Know through all your joy and pain
That I'll be loving you always
As today I know I'm living but tomorrow
Could make me the past but that I mustn't fear
For I'll know deep in my mind
The love of me I've left behind Cause I'll be loving you always
Until the day is night and night becomes the day---ALWAYS
Until the trees and seas just up and fly away---ALWAYS
Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4---ALWAYS
Until the day that is the day that are no more
Did you know that you're loved by somebody?
Until the day the earth starts turning right to left---ALWAYS
Until the earth just for the sun denies itself I'll be loving you forever
Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through---ALWAYS
Until the day that you are me and I am you---

A painful weekend of memories and longings, made easier by knowing we are not alone.
Your messages of love and friendship, of support, have strengthen and held us, the flowers for us and for Emma, have as always overwhelmed us, their colour bringing rays of sunshine into our darkness.
Thank you could never fully convey how very much your love means to us.
That her name is spoken, that Emma is remembered brings healing to this families hearts.
Be Blessed.

Home Baked Challenge - Boggis's Chicken

We are having such fun, dreaming up dishes to take part in Hannah's Home Baked Challenge ( click on button in sidebar )
This month's theme is Fictional Food - food inspired by books.
Great ideas and laughs round the dining table, revealed a wealth of recipes to try ranging from Enid Blyton Famous Five picnic goodies to Twilight morsels.

Our first tasty treat is inspired by Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox, Boggis's Chicken.

" Boggis was a chicken farmer. He kept thousands of chickens. He was enormously fat. This was because he ate three boiled chickens smothered with dumplings ever day for breakfast, lunch and supper "

Ok, so we didn't have this for breakfast or lunch but for supper ( or tea as we call it ) and it wasn't three chickens, only one but we did boil it and it was smothered in tasty dumplings.

We had a great time, reading from the book, eating our tea and singing the song

Boggis and Bunce and Bean
One fat, one short, one lean.
These horrible crooks
So different in looks
Were none the less equally mean.

Waiting for Daddy.
Looking.
Calling.
Waiting.

And then the joy when Daddy calls back as he rounds the corner of our road.
Dancing.
Jumping.
Smiling.

Daddy is Home.

30 days of Beauty : 16

But every time it rains,
Your here in my head,
Like the sun coming out.

I just know that something good is going to happen.

And I don't know when,
But just saying it could even make it happen.

On top of the World, looking over the edge,

You could see them coming.

Book Sharing Monday - Life Without School ( the quiet revolution ) by The Robinson Family

My copy arrived Saturday morning and was finished by Sunday afternoon, from the first page I was hooked.
From the magical family that collectively bring us The Mother Magazine, this book is full of family life and all that such a rich and varied environment has to offer our children's ( and us adults ) education.
Each family member shares their thoughts on a variety of subjects,I love Bethany and Eliza's chapters - full of their hopes, dreams and experiences.
Veronika and Paul open their hearts and share the good and the bad of their unschooling journey.
Recipes, photos, music and ideas for seasonal fun, add to make this a wonderful resource but it goes much deeper than that, sharing a deep and true love of family, of life and of self.
Inspirational.
