Vitamin D Top-Up

We're packed up for a trip to catch some sun, 3 weeks in Florida, all of us plus my parents, villa with pool booked, theme park passes paid for,a surprise trip for my Elvis mad Mum to Gracelands and books, knitting ( some thinks never change ) for me, think that covers us all.
Is it ungrateful to feel alittle sad to be leaving behind the beauty of Autumn ? my favourite season after all, although this morning it's so cold, damp and grey, it's not so hard to wave goodbye, goodness knows how I'm going to cope being away from my girls though ! and the dog is going to kennels, which means she'll sulk and be cross with us when we return til atleast Yule.
Fingers crossed I have prepared afew posts to appear, as if by magic for the first week of my holidays and then hope to be able to check in with some reports from the beach, the swimming pool, those lovely local yarn shops and more.
Thanks to all of you who leave such lovely comments here, I am so very lucky to be part of this amazing community.
Be Well

Hand Warmers for Woodland Friends

These hand warmers are great and knit up so quickly, wonderful for beginners with no increase or decrease, just cast on, knit, purl and cast off, sewing up the side and leaving a gap for a little thumb to poke through.
Have a guess where the pattern came from ! http://www.ravelry.com/projects/nocton4/easy-kids-hand-warmers

The first finished pair are for keeping a friends hands warm now, her Mama blogs here
http://blackhobbescat.blogspot.com/

Then I have plans for around 15 more pairs, enough to warm every little hand at O's woodland group, yule gifts for play friends.

4 down, many more to go !
Come and be part of the blogging community, sharing ideas and projects, to make this Holiday a Handmade one, easing the strain on the purse and honouring Mother Earth.

A gathering of Angels, ready to be sent with love, on their way as part of the Bits of Goodness Stocking Swap.

Pattern from Ravelry ( as always, what a great resource, have you joined yet ? ) http://www.ravelry.com/projects/nocton4/tiny-angel-dollI used bigger needles, than pattern states, to create a larger angel.

Angel chatter, the sweetest sound.

Wonderful wings to fly to their new homes.

With the funkest of hairstyles.

Grand Designs of The Tree House Variety

Today, was wood work day.

Lots of branch chopping, sanding and measuring, then some hard decisions to be made.
Where to position platforms ? which interesting, twisty piece of wood to use ? everything looked so good.

Finally, decisions made, everything was put away in bags for dealing with later, without the little people being around, we don't want any spoilt surprises.

We are using the wonderful instructions, found here
http://transitantennahome.blogspot.com/2010/05/toy-making-treehouse.html
Lots of other wonderful ideas for making this year's holiday a handmade one here
Slippers go to, number 2, which is Erin over at http://wildasweeds.blogspot.com/ congratulations, please let me have your address.

Autumn Swap Knitting

For my swap partner on Green Parent Forum, Autumn Seasons Table Swap.
A felted collecting bowl, to show all Autumn treasures.

I used some of my own hand dyed, hand spun yarn ... how proud did I feel.

And lots of Autumn Buddies for Bits of Goodies Fall Swap, here enjoying the sunshine.

These were a joy to create, and came to life infront of my eyes.

Happy to sit on the nature table or to be used as finger puppets to tell stories and sing songs of the season.

Ramblings of the Ordinary, Everyday Kind.

Normally, when I sit down to blog, photo already taken, words forming in my head as the computer fires up,the post is almost done but not today, today I feel in the mood to ramble, care to join me ?

My view,on this jaunt, yes, that's a poster of Edward Cullen in my dining room, given to me by my daughter and her friend.
I had no idea, where to put it and K's suggestion of above my bed wasn't going to impress N, so here it is.

I adore blogging and reading blogs but still won't show my children's faces or reveal their names, it does concern me who's looking.

The girls, are amazing, so silly and entertaining. The dream is every bit as good as I thought it would be and the eggs are divine.

My cousin, with her partner and son visited us last weekend.
It had been a very long time, since we'd seen each other and the last time was sadly at her Mum's funeral, which didn't make for happy times.
Growing up, she was my idol, 6 years separated us. I adored watching her with her friends, dancing in the front room, putting make-up on and getting ready for nights out on the town, dreaming of when I'd be old enough.
The visit was over much too quickly, we did all the things I knew we would, we laughed, we cried, we remembered and we'll do it all again, very soon.

My big lad is healing and ready to return to college.
My girl is sad, has things troubling her, difficult times, emotional tears.
My little guy has a cough and a cold.Has times of temper and frustration, hits out at friends in his over excitement to play, be with them.

How to help them, share their worries and fears, encourage and support without giving in to our own frustrations, tiredness and self doubts.

Macaroni cheese for tea, with salad .. it's ready, waiting for K to come back from Ballroom & Latin classes.
And You ?
