Love plus One

It had been 31 years, since I'd last seen him,he looked almost the same, I however, did not.
Nick Heyward of Haircut 100 fame, at Penn Festival, my childhood idol, still causing a stir for myself and a whole host of other ladies, enjoying life in their 40s.
A great festival, up and coming, wonderful line up, the delicious Nick sold it for me but Neville Staple of The Specials singing "ghost town" pure magic, The Beat, Selector, Jaki Graham, a real 80s/90s blast.

Then I went to Paris

2 days, 1 night jam packed with Parisian colour, tastes, sounds and sights.
Bus tour, river cruise
Good food
Sweltering heat
Cold drinks and ice cream
Speedy Eurostar home

From seed

Preparing the raised bed, raking the soil,
Planting, weeding, watering, thinning
Then harvesting
All done by his own, sweet hands

Sunday 7 July 2013

Splashes of colour from my week

Blue skies, roses and jasmine

Cherry pop handspun, koolaid dyed yarn

Yellow beauty from the riverside

Veggie Lasagne and salad

New bloom

Saturday 6 July 2013

Sunny Saturday

Temperatures are set to soar
Wimbledon finals begin today
Summer is here

Grab it while you can
Over fill your cup and enjoy
Share the abundance of the season
On your table, with friends, with strangers
Take in the sights, sounds, smells
That birdsong at 5am, rose scented early evenings, wild flowers blooming by the roadside, homemade lemon balm lemonade, picnics by the river, trips to the sea

It's all there for the taking, the enjoyment, the happiness

From Fleece to Fibre ( and a Woolfest visit )

A Zwartble fleece ready for a bath
Such stunning colours and gorgeous texture.
Sent from my lovely friend with invaluable help added in, thanks Dawn.

Bathed and drying in the sun

Hand carding, quite a task
Always better with a pretty basket to pop things in.

Spinning

And spun.
My very first fleece to fibre, still tons to use
Wondering what to make, socks maybe.

A Saturday visit to Woolfest in Cockermouth, Cumbria
Full of fleeces, yarns, wheels, heaven in a cattle shed.
No yarn bought but oh so many treats to spin.
