Loving Lewis - Monday at the Sheep Dip

A community, come together,
to bring down from the hills and the crofts,
to sort and check,
count and time,
pens of sheep
for dipping.

Amid the laughter, sharing of sweets and tales,
the sounds of hoofs, whistles and gates,
a job gets done.

And if you thought you'd escaped the bath,
evading the sheep dogs round up,
a journey on the back of a quad bike is in order,
to make sure everyone gets their dipping.

Wonderful post by Jacqui about this day here

Loving Lewis - Traveling Companion

Our guide,
as we headed home from the beach.
Checking how we're enjoying Lewis ?
And telling of the sights we must see.
Walking awhile with us,
then stepping into the hills,
blending with the landscape once again.

Loving Lewis - on Dalmore Beach

Wrapped up in coats and hats, wellies amust we headed to the beach.
Buckets, spades and wheel barrows.
Seals enjoying the waves.
Digging, collecting, discovering.
Thinking, dreaming, listening.
Time, peace, space.
Sunday on the Isle.

Traveling to Lewis

We left home as the sun was rising.

And arrived in Ullapool many, many hours later.
Stops were made along the way, Eddie Stobart trucks counted, naps, knitting and goodies devoured.

Rainy view from our room at The Ferry Boat Inn,
where great food, good wine and warm beds revived us.

In the morning, we admired the fishing boats, enjoyed our Scottish breakfast feast,
found bargains in the charity book shop and after only a couple of hours delay,
set sail.

Suffolk Sunshine

What a treat, a week in Suffolk.

A week of sailing boats, crabbing off little bridges, fish and chips, delicious ice creams, some vintage shopping, running through fields, watching hares, rabbits and birds, feeding swans, stacking pebbles and so many more simple delights, my list would be endless and all flavoured wth the best of company.

A truly magical week.

Tales of Florida

Well my plans to update while away went out the window, when the laptop caught a virus from which it could not be revived !
So a "show and tell" holiday catch-up,

Pumpkin pancakes at I-Hop, goodness these were good.We went back afew times, for research purposes ofcourse.

Yes, that's O up there with his Daddy, I was blown away by his need for the "bigger the better" roller coasters ! His height kept him off plenty ( thank goodness ) but he loved the ones he could go on, riding them again and again with his partner in crime, Daddy and K when she felt brave enough.

To roll out of bed in the morning straight into your own pool, what a treat.

Such fun.

Cocoa Beach, watching the waves, the birds, amazing surfers and each other.

Boat trips around the lake.

and some Disney magic.

Vitamin D Top-Up

We're packed up for a trip to catch some sun, 3 weeks in Florida, all of us plus my parents, villa with pool booked, theme park passes paid for,a surprise trip for my Elvis mad Mum to Gracelands and books, knitting ( some thinks never change ) for me, think that covers us all.
Is it ungrateful to feel alittle sad to be leaving behind the beauty of Autumn ? my favourite season after all, although this morning it's so cold, damp and grey, it's not so hard to wave goodbye, goodness knows how I'm going to cope being away from my girls though ! and the dog is going to kennels, which means she'll sulk and be cross with us when we return til atleast Yule.
Fingers crossed I have prepared afew posts to appear, as if by magic for the first week of my holidays and then hope to be able to check in with some reports from the beach, the swimming pool, those lovely local yarn shops and more.
Thanks to all of you who leave such lovely comments here, I am so very lucky to be part of this amazing community.
Be Well

Suffolk Smiles

A week away in a beautiful remote cottage with log fire, views over a wonderful forest with deers roaming and rutting ( Autumn Watch has nothing on us )

Amazing organic shops, cafes and restaurants ( although our favourite was Aldeburgh fish and chips on the beach )

Gorgeous pumpkins.

As fresh as it gets fish for K's famous fish pie.
Trips to Adeburgh, Southwold, Sutton Hoo, Ipswich and all those little stops at farm shops, galleries, treasure shops, book stalls along the way.
Some much needed smiles.
