Celebrating Imbolc

"Come Bride, Come Bride, enter in
Your bed is made up, nice and daisy,
Come Bride, Come Bride, enter in
We're ready for your blessing now
Ready for your blessing, now"
Today we will decorate our door with a ribbon, in faith that the Goddess of Imbolc, Bridget, will bless us and our home tonight as she passes by, bringing in the Spring.

Stirring of the Seeds and some to share.

Celebrating Imbolc with the sowing of seeds.
A story to get us started, some songs and poems.

Loving his shouts of joy, as he sees, carrots, tomatoes and flowers, lots of flowers.
Which to plant ?

His little hands so very carefully sprinkling the cress seeds.

Covering them to keep them warm.

And pictures of what we've done to show Daddy later.

Celebrate the coming of Spring with us.
We have some spare packets of seeds to send out.If you would like a pack, please leave a comment.
We'd love to see a photo on your blog of you planting the seeds with your little ones.

Book Sharing Monday at Imbolc

A mix of books shared with O today to match the time of year.

With frost filled mornings, more snow forecast and chilly evenings, Spring still seems so far away and yet those brave little buds pushing through the cold earth in my garden, tell me different.
First snowdrops spotted, last Thursday, promise Spring is not too far away.

The sun is gaining strength, days are slowly growing longer and the seeds are stirring.

We breathe deep, the new freshness in the air.

And so we celebrate with song, dance and ritual, encouraging Mother Earth to awaken again.

We light candles to match the spark of life, just beginning again in the ground.
Filling ourselves with this new energy.

We dream dreams of things to come, of adventures unfolding, promises of starting anew.
Allowing ourselves to truly acknowledge all that we are and all that we can be.
Everything is possible.
Blessed Be.

Celebrating Imbolc

A day to celebrate the warming of the Earth, Mother Nature waking her children.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imbolc

We made Bride/Brighid dolls, dressed in white, young Maidens dancing.
Scraps of white material brought together with lavender buds filling the head ( the scent in the room was amazing ) and decorated with ribbons and beads.

We made our Headdresses first and wore them proudly all day.

Lots of ideas for celebrating this wonderful festival, here's some to inspire you.

Loving these Book of days, http://blueyonder.typepad.com/ thanks to Hannah at http://homebakededucation.blogspot.com/ for putting us on to them.
Great things to make and do, ideal for encouraging you to slow down, take a moment, enjoy the here, the Now.

Imbolc

A day of celebrating the coming of Imbolc with friends.
We danced, we sang, we shared wonderful food, we found time and peace to develop our creativity with poems, sewing, stories and wisdom.
We celebrated in a richly decorated Hall, happy to be in each others company.

Honouring the West. Blues and greens of Water.

Celebrating the East. The white of the clouds, the light of stars .. all that is Air.

Rich reds of the South. Flickers of Fire.

The North, Earth, Home and Hearth.

We danced around this wonderful circle of flickering candle-light.
