The Start ...

The lovely blogger Tonya over at http://plainandjoyfulliving.blogspot.com/ is hosting Handmade Holiday 2010, sharing posts from readers and their own wonderful family creations, to encourage and inspire us all to use our skills to make gifts this year, rather than our bank balance.
I was completley taken with the idea of creating a toy tree house for O, after seeing this http://transitantenna.com/?p=1906 amazing post but having very little woodwork knowledge, thought it really wasn't an option, then a chat with a friend changed all that.
So sharing childcare and learning from his skills, we are creating not 1 but 2 surprise tree houses for O and M's daughter R.

Making full use of wood we already have, has seen 2 shelves and a bedhead cut to shape.

Sanding down is a job for this weekend.
Have you started making plans ?

Ooh, good luck. I've seen bought tree houses, but a homemade one would be so special, and the one you linked to is fabulous :-)

I know Ari and Maddie would love this. If we ever get moved to Virginia, I want to build a tree house for the kiddies so they can have a secret place to read, draw, whatever!

I can't wait to see how this comes out for O. Love you, xoxo

I am in awe of you attempting woodwork toys for Christmas gifts!
I have started some things but haven't thought of anything much for C yet.

Oh, that's fantastic!! I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out and then please will you post instructions!! My woodwork is pretty awful, but I do own a jigsaw and even a router, so I'm willing, but usually end up sawing into my own fingers!! Keep us posted on how you progress won't you! xxx

Oh I love it. I wish I could try my hand at woodwork, but that's my husband's territory. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it is finished. I love handmade Christmas presents.
