Yarn Along 6 - New Starts

I did lots of sitting down over the holidays, all those films to watch, peaceful afternoons and evenings but yet manged to do little knitting, if any.Maybe it was the frantic present knitting catching up on me.
The few projects I did start, have now been pulled down, yarn rewound.
New Year, New Starts.

And, so I cast back on the first project rewound, a winter cowl for my boy, yesterday and it felt good.
Pattern from Amanda Blake Soule's Rhythm of the Family, which I am also reading along with an old James Herriot,Let sleeping vets lie, kindly borrowed from a dear friend, it makes for a peaceful bedtime read.

Afew rows in and all is well again in my Yarning World.

Ooh D, I have that Herriot book, an extremely old copy, it was one of the very few books in our house when I was growing up...I must re-read it this year :) Happy New Year to you and yours my lovely xx

When I was pregnant with my third, I binged on James Herriot...it was so peaceful and gentle; such a gift! A similar series that you might enjoy is "An Irish Country Doctor"...can't think of the author's name; he's Irish-Canadian, and the style/storytelling reminds me of Herriot! Love those cozy fireside pictures...I too burnt out after frantic pre-Christmas knitting...can hardly think about it! But posted today about a little quick project that's captured me.

Glad you are back on the yarn again. I love james herriot. That so reminds me of one Christmas back in my parents old house when I was a teen - sitting by the fire and reading his lovely gentle tales.. Oh how I longed to be a country vet...
Glad you liked the books - i instantly thought of your K when i saw the poetry book, and I bought one for kristine too. xxx

I'm reading Rhythm of Family this week too. The cowl is a project I want to do this month! I love the fire in the background. Nothing like knitting by a warm fire!

How frustrating having to rip everything back. But looks like you have got your mojo back now. :)

I'm looking forward to picking up a project too now the madness of Christmas is behind us, a cowl sounds like a great idea. I love the Herriot books too - did you see the young Herriot tv series before christmas?
