A similar series that you might enjoy is "An Irish Country Doctor"...can't think of the author's name; he's Irish-Canadian, and the style/storytelling reminds me of Herriot! Love those cozy fireside pictures...I too burnt out after frantic pre-Christmas knitting...can hardly think about it!
